The Program for Research on Emerging Infectious Diseases or PREID aims to pursue research, development, and training activities to support local and national efforts in the Philippines to mitigate threats from emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.
PREID is under the Institute of Clinical Epidemiology (ICE), which primarily conducts relevant research for the improvement of health care using the principles of clinical epidemiology and its related disciplines and to provide technical services in support of research development.
ICE is one of the 15 research institutes and centers of the University of the Philippines Manila National Institutes of Health (NIH). ICE spearheaded several relevant research studies on COVID-19 during the height of the pandemic.
